Line 6 Equips Berklee Guitar Labs With State Of The Art Recording And Modeling Technology
Exciting developments are afoot for guitar students at Berklee College of Music.Boston's Berklee College is unique amongst major music colleges - since its inception its philosophy has been to prepare students for a careeer in music by focusing heavily on contemporary music making.
That tradition is continued with the latest partnership between the College and Line 6, which has seen the prominent studio and live music gear manufacturer Line 6 equip Berklee's guitar classrooms, labs and lesson studios with state-of-the-art recording and performance equipment.
This collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term vision regarding the role of music technology in guitar education. Line 6 have built their reputation around modeling vintage and modern electric and acoustic guitar, amplifier and effects sounds. Line 6 President, Mike Muench, sees this collaboration as mutually beneficial - giving students access to the latest in guitar technology and enabling Line 6 to learn new ways to apply technology based on feedback from some extremely dedicated and talented young musicians - this input will feed into future product development.
Berklee's Associate Professor of Guitar, Randy Roos, confirms the impact of Line 6 resources in the classroom - the ease with which a great variety of musical sounds can be achieved is accelerating the students' creativity, opening up new production possibilities, and enabling the speedy and easy realization of musical ideas. He goes as far as asserting that Line 6's modeling concept has changed the landscape of modern recording.
Berklee also recently entered into an agreement with Propellerhead Software. The agreement sees Propellerhead's Reason sequencing software installed on all student laptops and lab computers on the Berklee campus.
